Do not underestimate the power of knowledge! Sharing relevant information is an effective way to increase the productivity of sales employees without removing them from their job. There are many tools that allow knowledge to be shared easily within a department including chat forums, online training videos, webinars, or email communication that publicly recognize success of sales reps and share the specific techniques used to achieve success. Jack Stack developed the concept of Open Book Management and had tremendous success with his book The Great Game of Business that is focused on “tapping into the universal desire to win” by providing access to information that helps employees make more intelligent business decisions that will positively impact sales.
